Our favourite outdoor gear deals this week
The Mountain Equipment Makalu jacket is simply the best waterproof jacket we’ve tested in recent years. It’s brilliantly waterproof, tough yet light and packs in some excellent features.
It has a protective hood, useful two-way pit zips and a two-way main zip. It’s simply a brilliant performer in a range of scenarios, which makes this a very good price.
The Rab Latok Mountain Gore-Tex Pro is one of our most highly-rated winter waterproof jackets and it’s now available with a massive £114 off. There’s no doubt that this is a terrific jacket. It’ll keep you bone-dry in a downpour and we love some of the features.
At this price, we think the Keela Cairn is one of the best value waterproofs around. Our verdict was that it’s a well-priced, light and packable three-season shell, best used from spring through to autumn.
If sustainability is important to you, the Patagonia Granite Crest is one of the best waterproof jackets out there. Besides its impressive eco credentials, we found that it’s a reliable, mid-range choice – just fine for most hillwalkers.
When we reviewed the Haglöfs Women’s Spitz GTX Pro, we awarded it as the best technical winter waterproof jacket. There’s a climber-oriented fit which is ideal for alpinism, but it’s still reasonably lightweight.
