When it comes to walking boots, finding the perfect blend of comfort, durability and value isn’t easy. Enter SCARPA’s new Cyrus 2 GTX and Cyrus 2 Mid GTX, two versatile models designed to meet the demands of everyday walkers and serious hikers alike.

Building on SCARPA’s reputation for quality craftsmanship, the Cyrus’s elevated cushioning, enhanced fit, and resoleable soles, are just a few of the many improvements that have been made to the updated model.

Hiking boots are our bread and butter on LFTO and we’re no stranger to SCARPA’s high-performance models. Back in 2023, we were impressed with the brand’s Rush Trk Pro GTX leather hiking boot, which our tester dubbed a “triumph of modern boot engineering”, bagging first prize in our Gear of the Year Awards.

With the same Gore-Tex waterproofing, tough nubuck leather and padding where it counts, the Cyrus 2 appears to have maintained the high quality of the Rush, but slimmed down the price tag. Here’s how the Cyrus 2 has revolutionised its design compared to its first iteration…

Take a look at SCARPA’s full Cyrus 2 range now.

Enhanced comfort, durability and value

Aside from the lighter tan colour and more modern styling, the new Cyrus 2 cuts down on weight while building on padding, traction and trail-ready strength.

Improved fit and comfort

The Cyrus 2 GTX and Cyrus 2 GTX Mid have been reengineered for a more ergonomic fit, with new MC last and refined shaping around the heel and midfoot to reduce pressure points and enhance all-day comfort.

A softer, padded collar and tongue now provide a more plush feel straight out of the box, while there's improved support and comfort underfoot for all distances.

Increased durability

SCARPA has upgraded the nubuck leather upper with a thermo-embossed finish, adding subtle structure and abrasion resistance without compromising flexibility.

The new bonded-strobel construction aims to increase the boot’s resilience to repeated flexing and wear, while the Gore-Tex ePE waterproof lining offers long-lasting performance in wet conditions, also being PFAS-free for a lower environmental impact

Resoleable for longevity

One of the most practical updates to the Cyrus 2 models is the introduction of a reasoleable sole unit. This allows the boots to be resoled once the tread wears down, significantly extending the product’s usable life.

Not only is this a nice nod to sustainability, it should also result in excellent long-term value for regular walkers and hikers.

The Cyrus 2 Mid GTX aims to strike the right balance between a walking boot and a walking shoe. This translates to enhanced support and comfort where it counts, for long days exploring the mountains and trails.

SCARPA claims the Cyrus 2 Mid is “perfect for UK walking this summer”, thanks to a sizable injection of padding, hardy waterproof protection, and sturdy features for durability in all kinds of British weather. The classic tan leather colourway gives the shoe a vintage feel, combined with thermo-embossed highlights for a modern twist.

Comfort is king

This mid-cut boot design should attract those who enjoy walking footwear that can really move with the wearer, without compromising on coverage and breathability. Maximum ankle support locks in the foot from the get-go, with the ergonomic 'soft touch' padding extending over the tongue to properly hug the foot, without feeling restrictive.

This should also pad out any lace pressure from the eyelet lacing system, which extends up to the top of the boot in the classic hiking shoe style. Meanwhile, an extra injection of plush at the EVA midsole should enhance underfoot cushioning with each step. The relaxed fit is ideal for both casual hikes and everyday use.

Stability on all surfaces

The Cyrus 2 Mid GTX has a bonded-strobel hybrid construction. This means that the upper of the shoe is attached to the insole in a way that allows it to flex and move more with the foot.

Moving down to the Presa outsole, this has been built with super gum compound for maximum traction underfoot. Meanwhile, the new, multidirectional lug pattern aims to instantly dislodge any sticky dirt to provide reliable grip and heel braking at all times.

Durability where it matters most

Made from high-quality nubuck leather, the upper is naturally soft, breathable and water-resistant. But just in case, there’s also a Gore-Tex ePE membrane to enhance waterproofing and overall durability. It’s PFAS-free too, another big tick for the Cyrus 2 (PFAS are nasty ‘forever chemicals’ that are incredibly bad for the environment and our health).

SCARPA says the Cyrus 2 Mid is “ideal for rough terrain and prolonged use”, with the new model designed to be highly abrasion-resistant and long-lasting. Plus, the enlarged toe bumper and reinforced midsole help to boost overall toughness and protection.

Low-cut, high comfort

While the Cyrus 2 Mid GTX offers added ankle support, this low-cut version is perfect for those who prefer lightweight, everyday walking shoes that don’t compromise on cushioning or support. The padded tongue and collar offer that plush fit, with SCARPA’s ergonomic design dialling in for a secure fit.

Underfoot, the dual-density EVA midsole brings long-lasting comfort with every step, while remaining lightweight and dense for absorbing each footfall. The relaxed fit should suit a variety of foot shapes and is a reliable pick for those who need all-day comfort without a rigid or technical boot feel.

Grip that keeps you going

On the outsole, SCARPA’s Presa tread pattern features the same self-cleaning multidirectional lugs as the Mid to instill a confident grip, even in changeable British weather. Whether you’re crossing damp fields or navigating slippy cobbles, the super gum outsole compound should provide reliable traction and stability.

Eco-conscious and weatherproof

The Cyrus 2 GTX features a PFAS-free, Gore-Tex ePE membrane that’s designed to be fully waterproof and breathable. Tough yet flexible, the leather upper resists scuffs and scrapes for long-term wear, making it a dependable choice for both casual hikers and weekend explorers.
