If you're looking for sustainable outdoor kit that delivers impressive comfort and innovative design features, Jack Wolfskin has always been a brand that delivers on all three fronts. Here we take a look at some of the key features and technologies that power their new active hiking range for spring/summer 2023.

Two feet in front of each other, mile after mile. The world would look a lot different without humans' first real culture connector: walking. From modern-day North America to China, and everywhere in between, the tools we travel with may have changed, but the ongoing pursuit of reaching new places and greeting new faces remains a dominant human trait.

Whether embarking on a trail of discovery in a brand new place or a walk starting right outside your front door, the team at Jack Wolfskin pride themselves on creating outdoor apparel and equipment that exceed hikers’ expectations. Featuring comfort and features that still deliver after thousands of miles.

This spring they're releasing an active collection focused on sustainability, high-quality workmanship, sophisticated technologies and an innovative approach to design. Illustrated through collaborations with market-leading fabric manufacturers that include Pertex, PrimaLoft and Polartec.

So, what's in the collection? Keep reading to find out…

Jack Wolfskin Tapeless jacket

The Tapeless waterproof jacket

These new partnerships help push Jack Wolfskin to industry-changing designs such as the Tapeless Jacket. A clean-cut, waterproof shell that achieves outstanding breathability, durability and high-wearing comfort by completely eliminating waterproof tape in its construction.

This is done by using an innovative seam sealing method that removes 22 metres of tape and thus layers of material and adhesives, which in turn minimises air permeability. The original Tapeless Jacket proved a big hit with hikers all over the world, and the 2.0 version is due to be released in March 2023.

Zip-off trousers

In the walking trousers range, Jack Wolfskin have also set out to redefine the popular zip-off pants. Designing a pair of ultralight hiking trousers that you can convert to shorts without having to take your boots off. There's one zip connecting the leg to the shorts upper, with a second running down to the shoe. A clever solution that still offers a stylish look. The Glastal Zip Away Pants are available online now in men's and women's versions.

JW Routeburn pro hybrid

Lightweight layering system

For Spring 2023, the German-based company has complemented its hiking range by creating styles that perfectly accompany each other to build a full hiking layering system.

The Routeburn Pro Hybrid insulated jacket offers packable warmth while temperatures stay low at the top and tail of longer days spent outdoors. This jacket can be worn as an outer layer in most conditions barring heavy rain, or beneath a shell like the Tapeless Jacket for added warmth when you need waterproof protection too.

Waterproof your feet

Of course, protection and comfort doesn't only come from your clothing while hiking. Jack Wolfskin is one of those rare outdoor brands that can fully kit you out from head to toe, and that's exactly what they'll be doing this spring and summer with their all-new Force Striker Texapore Mid waterproof hiking shoes.

Designed for tackling everything from rocky paths and loose scree to slippery stream beds, these shoes provide stability with every step thanks to the innovative Force Plate below the midsole. You also get extra comfort and cushioning thanks to soft Reflex Foam in the midsole, plus excellent grip from the Vibram outsole.
