Have you ever planned a walking holiday, but struggled to fill up your bottles en route? There's a new way to top up your water bottles daily with Highland tap water for free!
Visit Inverness and Loch Ness have launched a Fresh Water Top Up scheme that's designed to keep you hydrated with ease in and around Loch Ness. A simple idea, but also a thirst-quenching deal breaker for many looking for their next adventure!
The aim of the scheme is simply to ensure all visitors have the tools and information available to make sustainable choices that allow YOU to enjoy Inverness and Loch Ness while protecting the natural environment for future generations.
Plastic waste has a hugely damaging impact on our environment, so schemes like this are designed to collectively reduce our reliance on single-use plastic and live in a sustainable and environmentally friendly world.
Loch Ness is home to some of the best hiking trails in the world and attracts visitors from far and wide. Not only amazing for hiking, Inverness and Loch Ness also offer a diverse destination in a stunning, natural landscape.
Visitors head off on their journeys, some long and some short, and it is now much easier to plan where to fill up water bottles and stay hydrated while visiting the area.
The Fresh Water Top-Up Scheme's aims are:
Access to water points during sociable hours, to enable everyone to keep safe and hydrated for their adventures
Inverness and Loch Ness will remain a climate-friendly destination
While in the area, visitors will be welcomed into the Highland Community where locals will be happy to be asked if you can fill your bottle!
Those taking part in the scheme include accommodation providers, shops, cafes and even takeaway food vans. A list can be found on this website: visitinvernesslochness.com/water-topup
