When you’re looking for somewhere new to explore on foot, nothing beats a good recommendation. You want to hear from someone who’s gripped the same ground with the soles of their boots and breathed in the air on that exact trail.

This is even more true when you’re heading for the mountains, where terrain can be rocky and exposed, weather can be changeable, and safety is a key concern when planning your trip. And recommendations don’t come much better than from the 50 million members of AllTrails, who between them make up the world’s largest outdoor community.

AllTrails is a website and app combo that gives you all the tools you need to plan your next adventure. With offline maps, wrong-turn alerts and many more intuitive features, it helps you make the most of every minute outdoors.

**My Favourite AllTrails route

James Poole, ultrarunner and adventurer**

“I'm a huge Peak District fan and I love running along Stanage Edge, hiking Mam Tor, or scrambling up Jacob's Ladder. However, my all time favourite trail is the Kinder Scout Circular route from Edale.

“This route has everything - green moorland, technical rocky climbs and epic views from the top of Kinder Scout - The Peak District's only official mountain at 636m. What's more you can reward yourself at the end with a pint (or cup of tea) and a pie at the Rambler Inn. You can view the route HERE.
