At the back-end of last year I was interviewing a casualty, a young British woman, who had been recovered by the French Alpine Team I was training.
She had not been able to contact the emergency services because she did not know the number to dial and it was pure luck that she was found by other skiers who were also off piste.
Over the years I've spent a great deal of time meeting with the Home Office, visiting BT’s OACs (Operator Assistance Centres) and also the ECC (Emergency Control Centre) of the Police, Fire & Rescue and Ambulance Service. I also have intimate and personal knowledge of Mountain Rescue.
When I got home I made this short video to tell people exactly what to do to maximise their chances of getting through to the emergency services in the event of an accident.
Please share this video with your friends and family because one day it could save their lives.
