Prime Day 2025 is here!

LFTO Prime Day

Amazon Prime Day runs from Tuesday July 8th to midnight on Friday July 11th! And if previous years are anything to go by, we’re expecting a week of cracking discounts on outdoor essentials – from hiking gear and trail running shoes to camping stoves, sleeping bags and more.

Our expert team will be combing through the noiseall week to surface the best deals for campers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Keep this page bookmarked as we update it with fresh finds and expert recommendations.

Naturally, quality outdoor gear doesn’t come cheap – it’s built to last, and built for terrain and weather that intends to destroy it. But Prime Day offers a rare chance to pick up the kit you’ve been eyeing at a more palatable price. We’re here to help you avoid the filler and find the stuff actually worth your time.

Check back soon for our top Prime Day picks across all outdoor categories.

Amazon is a bit like Ben Nevis on a bank holiday – crowded as hell. It can be hard to separate the wheat from the chaff, discount-wise. But with a bit of savvy navigation, you can find some excellent kit at a fraction of the usual cost.

Our advice? Well first and foremost, stick with us! We’ll be updating this article with handpicked recommendations across key categories – tents, boots, trail shoes, jackets, head torches and more.

Our top tips for getting the most out of Prime Day:

1. Set a budget and stick to it

It’s easy to get swept up in flashy discounts. Remember what you came for, and avoid impulse buys unless it’s something you genuinely need.

2. Sign up for alerts

Amazon allows you to “watch” deals – a helpful feature for nabbing lightning deals before they vanish. You can also sign up to the LFTO Newsletter, where we’ll be flagging standout offers all week.

3. Check the price history

Use tools like CamelCamelCamel or Keepa to see if a discount is genuinely good – not just a sneaky price hike followed by a ‘deal’.

4. Don’t wait too long

Good deals on popular items will sell out. If something is on your wishlist and the price drops significantly, it’s worth acting fast.

5. Remember the returns policy

Amazon has a generous returns window, so if you’re unsure, it’s often safer to grab the deal and decide later.

Is Prime Day actually cheaper?

In many cases, yes – but with a few caveats. Amazon Prime Day is known for offering genuine discounts, especially on their own products and top outdoor brands that partner with them.

That said, not every deal is a steal. Some prices might’ve crept up beforehand, only to be ‘slashed’ on the day, so it pays to do a quick price check using a tool like CamelCamelCamel or simply Googling the item to compare.

In our experience, some of the best Prime Day deals are on outdoor tech (like GPS watches and head torches), hiking footwear, and camping essentials. If there’s something you’ve been meaning to buy anyway, and it drops in price on Prime Day, then yes – it’s likely a solid time to buy.

What’s the difference between Prime Day and Black Friday?

Think of Prime Day as Amazon’s big summer party, where other brands are invited, but it's clearly at their house. Meanwhile, Black Friday is like a street- or town-wide festival, with everyone and their grandma selling their wears (with varying quality).

Prime Day is exclusive to Amazon and its Prime members, typically taking place in July, and usually features discounts on thousands of products sold or fulfilled by Amazon. Black Friday, on the other hand, is a much broader event – it involves just about every major retailer and runs across physical and online stores. It kicks off in late November and often includes deals from brands who don’t even list their products on Amazon.

In short: Prime Day is Amazon-only, summer-based, and membership-gated. Black Friday is for everyone, everywhere, and often offers more variety – but Prime Day can still deliver serious savings, especially if you know what you’re looking for.
