This is a really technical 41-50 litre rucksack, intended for hardcore mountain use. Features such as a deep double cord snow-lock with compression straps and a removable lid, crampon pocket, ice axe pockets and ski guides leave you in no doubt of this. There is a selection of pockets, and all three of them are in the lid (one internal and two external). There is also an extra Velcro pocket in the lid containing a mesh helmet strap. The body of the pack is a slimline shape and has a vertical zip for accessing items inside the pack without struggling in through the lid. So it is great for big days in the hills. But the hefty price tag will rule this pack out for most, while a lack of features such as walking pole attachments will rule it out for hill-walking. You get 12 litres more capacity than you actually need, so the size and weight of the pack do not exactly embrace the ‘fast and light’ concept either.
