Sealskinz Performance Activity Glove (2012)

Sealskinz is best known for its superb range of waterproof socks. The company has used the same technology to develop an extremely wide range of gloves too, and these benefit from that same close-fitting style that made the socks so popular. The Performance Activity Glove benefits from Primaloft insulation for extra warmth yet the glove still manages to fit very closely and provide an excellent level of dexterity, making it very easy to use a compass or operate zips. The glove is elasticated across the wrist, which I found a little restrictive when putting this on with wet hands, and indeed I would prefer this to be more stretchy to help get these on when cold and wet. The wrist cuff is very close-fitting and short so it fits easily under a jacket sleeve, but when I wore this with my big watch the Velcro was not really long enough and I had a chilly gap in this area, so I’d prefer a longer cuff for walking.  You get a leather palm for durability and also a corrugated knuckle to protect the hand. There’s also a textured grippy patch on the forefinger.

Outer nylon; SealSkinz waterproof lining; leather palm

Men’s sizes S-XXL

Women’s sizes none

Removable liner no

Nose wipe yes

Wrist leash no

Weight 176g (pair, men’s size L)

The Sealskinz Performance Activity Glove is not the warmest option here and I’d prefer a different cuff design for hill and mountain walking, but the dexterity is superb and this is a great choice for biking.
