If you are short on cash then this multi-activity jacket will do a reasonable job in a variety of situations – which is why it makes into the finalists. At 566g (size L) it is not too restrictive in terms of weight or bulk. You get two cavernous external chest pockets, which will swallow a map while being easily accessed above a rucksack hipbelt. Those same pockets can also be used as comfy handwarmers too. Inside the jacket you get a mesh lining that adds comfort and makes the jacket feel lighter than it really is. The hood rolls into the collar, so it won’t flap about when biking or climbing. On the head the hood fits closely and moves well with the head. This jacket is ideal if you just want a low-priced jacket for a variety of activities. But the chest pocket linings extend to hem, so retrieving small items is difficult as rucksack belts cover lower half of pocket. The hood is not the best either as it has a large peak that could obscure vision, but at least you can tuck this hood away! Higher price brings more breathable and more waterproof fabric.
