The Halo is rather heavy for a lightweight waterproof, but very reasonably priced at £75. Most of the added weight comes from the heavy nylon fabric, which is lined with polyester throughout to help it breathe. It does a good job of keeping out a shower, but will wet-out eventually so it’s not ideal for long, rainy days in the hills. The fabric is bulky, and with the added weight to consider, the jacket won’t stuff away easily in your pack when it’s not needed. On the plus side, it provides a decent amount of warmth, which the ultra-light jackets won’t do, but because its breathability is limited, it’s best-suited to less strenuous walks. There’s a small storm flap to prevent water seeping in through the zip, two handwarmer pockets, and a chest pocket for valuables.
