For a low-priced general-purpose waterproof this is packed with great features for the walker who doesn’t wanted the lightest jacket but does want some good comfortable features. The fabric is better than some jackets in its price bracket. You also get a mesh lining to add extra comfort. The style is slightly longer than some, allowing access to base pockets and providing valuable protection from the weather. The front zip gets a double stormflap too to keep rain out. There are two chest pockets, one on the outside and one under the main zip stormflap, which is dedicated as a map pocket. The hood is particularly good for the price, with a stiffened peak and a reasonable fit and nothing to beat you senseless in a gale. But at 858g (size men’s L) this is not the lightest jacket around, but for the price it does offers a little more than some lighter jackets. The outside chest pocket is a little tight for an OS map, which is annoying. Other jackets have better fabrics but they cost more too.
