Páramo Velez Adventure Smock 2008

Páramo garments have a broad following thanks to their unique fabric, which controls condensation better than anything else, and keeps the rain out (and the performance can be maintained for life using Nikwax). Two zipped side vents on the Páramo Velez Adventure Smock add ventilation and give access to a zipped tunnel handwarmer pocket. The design is a smock, which is ideal for multi-activity, as it allows space for a huge chest pocket that can be easily accessed while wearing harnesses for example. The smock is longer than most with a scooped tail, but is short enough for biking or climbing. The hood can be completely removed, or rolled down, again ideal for multisport use. The hood has a wired peak, while fitting and moving well with the head. Reflective piping makes this safer to wear at night. But the Páramo Velez Adventure Smock is warmer than other jackets so it’s not ideal for summer action, although it is superb for cooler months (and in the mid range of temperatures you wear fewer undergarments). This is the main reason it is not the winner in this test. It’s rather heavy at 758g too. The hood movement isn’t quite as good as the best either.
