What sets all Páramo products apart is the unique fabric, which actively pushes water out in a similar way to animal fur. The outer layer acts as a windproof while a Nikwax durable water repellency treatment sheds rain. The result is that you stay dry and the fabric can be reproofed and repaired repeatedly without loss of performance. The Páramo Velez Adventure Light multi-activity jacket is 20 per cent lighter than its counterparts, while the extra warmth of the fabric is a bonus in the cold. There are two zipped side vents leading to a zipped tunnel handwarmer pocket. The smock design is ideal for multi-activity as it allows space for a huge harness-compatible chest pocket. The jacket is long with a scooped tail, but short enough for biking or climbing. The hood can be rolled down and secured at the collar, and its wired peak, fit and movement are great for wet, windy weather. Reflective piping makes this a safer option at night. But It is warmer than other jackets so it’s not ideal for summer action. This is the main reason that it is not the winner here. It’s quite heavy too, which is not a problem in winter as less insulation is required but in summer it is another drawback. The hood movement isn’t quite as good as the best either.

Verdict: The Páramo Velez Adventure Light multi-activity jacket is perfect for cold, wet-weather biking, climbing, scrambling and walking but it can be too warm in summer.
