This winter jacket is 100% welded, which means there is no seam tape to impede breathability, so it is more breathable than comparable designs. As there is no seam tape it is also softer and more compressible than conventional taped jackets. It’s a close-fitting jacket with a good length for mountaineering. The fabric stretches a little, which means it is really comfortable and has excellent freedom of movement without the need for lots of extra bulky fabric. The front zip gets a double stormflap to keep the worst of the rain out. There are four chest pockets and two have mesh linings to allow venting, but you get pit zips as well for venting. The hood has a large peak and moves with the head very well, and is big enough to fit over a helmet. Definitely a great jacket. But the hood was a little too big for my bonce, so try it for size. The mesh pockets allow venting, but they also allow dampness through the jacket, so I would prefer these to be sealed on the inside for winter use. Two of the four chest pockets are annoyingly small.
