The Paclite II is everything a lightweight waterproof should be, and it comes at a relatively modest price too. At 375g, it’s certainly light, yet the Gore-Tex Paclite fabric, combined with great design, means it will withstand just about anything thrown at it. The rollaway hood is deep and adjustable (although it loses a mark for a rather flimsy peak) and the external stormflap is absolutely bomb-proof: a double layer of fabric with Velcro and studs to fasten it. This jacket isn’t over-endowed with pockets – just two large handwarmers – but these are well-placed and double as vents, and they will also take a map. Drawcords at the hem ensure a snug fit when required and the cuffs are spot-on, with their Velcro tabs.
