A small red triangle logo on your fleece will bump up the price, but as a quick visual guarantee, it is hard to beat. It’s the logo of Polartec, and when it comes to making a fleece warm, breathable and stretchy, Polartec is about the best option on the market. It’s at the heart of this excellent all-rounder fleece, making it very versatile and also very light. Fleeces tend to be a little saggy, but unusually this one is very sharply cut, with sculpted shoulders and a trim torso. There are handwarmer pockets but no chest pocket (there are two storage flaps on the inner lining, but it’s hard to know what you’d put in them). The zip seals nicely and is backed by a stormflap. The flappy cuffs are a bit too simple though: they can let in draughts, and the attached poppers (which are meant to secure it to a compatible
outer layer) can feel a bit in the way.
