Regatta Aventura (2012)

Regatta is well-known for producing good kit at very affordable prices. The Aventura is priced very competitively, yet it still performs extremely well when hillwalking. This is a short-sleeved design with a crew neck and a light and airy fit, making it ideal for summer. The style is not too ‘mountain hero’ either so it could be worn casually without you feeling overdressed. The latest trend in base layers is ‘body mapping’, where the fabric knit is altered to create areas that move moisture more rapidly. On this garment, those body-mapped high-wicking areas are down the centre of the back and below the neck. The fabric moves moisture well, but it’s not quite as soft, stretchy and comfy next to the skin as higher-priced options. It is also a little shorter than some so it will more easily ride up under a hipbelt when scrambling, for example, compared to longer designs. But at this price it is more than capable of enhancing your comfort when hillwalking, and if money is tight the Regatta Aventura is a great choice.
