The Gore Paclite fabric used in these waterproof overtrousers is really lightweight (the trousers only weigh 175g), making them ideal for stowing in your rucksack in case of downpours. They will also pack down really small, so they won’t take up valuable space, which means you can use a smaller pack, thereby saving more weight! The waist is fully elasticated and further adjustment is provided by a tie drawcord. They also have a small mesh pocket on the inside of the waist, which is a welcome addition and will keep small items such as keys or a phone safe and dry. The side zip is a quarter-length one with easy-to-use zip pulls – the sort of size you can get hold of and use, but not so big that they are annoying and get in the way
But They are only given a quarter-length zip. So although it was possible to get these trousers on over footwear, this was only made possible by a more generous leg width, which in turn made the cut slightly baggy. The waist pulled down if I squatted while wearing these trousers. They’re a high price for what you get.
