You cannot beat a massive, practical pocket in a pair of shorts, and the Páramo Maui Cargo Shorts get two of them! On each leg there is a cavernous pocket that allows you to easily stash an OS map and a small guidebook with space to spare. There is a dedicated mobile phone pocket too. You also get a pair of smaller and seat hip pockets. The fabric is a very soft polyester that is wonderfully comfortable to wear, and it dries fast and is a little more breathable than the nylon options. These shorts come with a waistbelt provided as well. These are practical shorts that are great on the hill. But they could be even better. There is no stretch fabric used, and there is no crotch panel, so while the Páramo Maui Cargo Shorts felt fine for me it is possible that some people may find others comfier. I’d like some elastication in the waist and ideally a brushed lining to make these even better. If I am being really picky the two hip pockets are a little tight to access, so again others are a notch better in this department.

Excellent leg pockets on the Páramo Maui Cargo Shorts provide plenty of storage but some details are slightly better on others.
