These featured in Trail’s waterproof trouser review too, but they are really soft shell trousers and so are ideal for use in any weather. Because of the nature of the fabric, and the design and construction, they will not only serve as really comfy, well-thought-out walking trousers but when it starts to rain they will also keep you dry and warm as well. They are very breathable too. The waist is elasticated and has a drawstring tie and belt loops. There are two zipped pockets. The three-quarter-length side zip, which has a stormflap and press studs, allows easy venting too. The ankle cuff has press studs and there are two map-sized pockets on the hips. For walking in cold weather they are top of the class. But they are too hot for summer. They do not have the stretch panels of other trousers here and the fit is not as close as others. Also, given that they are winter-orientated trousers they do not get an internal gaiter, where one would be useful.
