Mountain Hardwear Navigation Pant

These are exceptionally comfortable walking trousers, thanks to careful design and good material choices. Firstly you get four-way stretch fabric throughout, so you can climb as well as walk in comfort. Yet the fit is not too close. The waist gets a chamois lining, which makes this area so much more comfortable under a rucksack belt. A belt is also provided, along with the usual zip fly design. An unusual feature is the removable ankle gaiter. I like this as it is ideal for keep grit and grime out of boots, but you can remove it very easily if not required. Articulated knees further add to comfort, while a pair of zipped thigh vents add welcome airflow in summer. There are five pockets, and the leg pocket is zipped. But bigger pockets would be better. The rear ones are quite small and the leg pocket would be better able to accommodate an OS map if deeper. The leg zip has no bellows behind it, so it is not a lot of use in my view. Others are more durable, while many are lower in price and almost as good.
