Berghaus Himal Mountain 2009

Berghaus Himal Mountains are tough, durable, stretchy trousers and they’re another good, low-priced option for beginner walkers on a budget and mountaineers who need a heavy-duty, long-lasting trouser for all-season use. They are also cut quite wide on the leg, which makes them great for women with normal, pear-shaped bodies. Berghaus uses a robust yet stretchy double-weave fabric that transports moisture from inside to out, the outer being abrasion-resistant nylon and the inner brushed polyester to give more comfort. The two mesh pockets have no zip to mash your hip bones against a heavy rucksack hipbelt, and lower down the sides are two easy-to-grip zip-up mesh vents so you can control your thigh temperature on those burning ascents. The slight ankle flare can be drawn in with an elastic pull. But the robust fabric makes them slightly on the heavy side at 478g, but this is only 35g more than the winner here so it seems slightly pernickety to quibble over the weight of a handful of dried apricots. Side mesh vents are a good idea, but extending them into pockets would be useful.
