The award-winning Laser series of lightweight backpacking tents from Terra Nova has been extending into the brand’s more affordable Wild Country range, with the Zephyros 2 Lite being, as the name suggests, a lighter version of the standard Zephyros 2, at £150 and 1715g. In effect there is now a Laser-style lightweight tent design for every bank balance. The Wild Country Zephyros 2 Lite is pitched with just a single pole that fits through a sleeve in the flysheet and two pre-fitted short vertical poles at each end. The design is kept simple but effective, so you get basic bungee pegging points, rather than more elaborate designs, and in terms of general pitching isn’t quite as easy as other designs. There’s just one side porch and entrance, and what’s most noticeable is that the inner is much narrower and has less headroom than other heavier tents, making it generally far less spacious to live in. You can get two people inside, but it really is tight, so I’d call this a one-person tent or a two-person tent for adventure racing when every gram counts. The Wild Country Zephyros 2 Lite’s main benefit here is the weight of just 1406g, but you won’t enjoy sleeping that close to your mate for long!
Flysheet fabric PU-coated ripstop nylon
Inner tent ripstop polyester
Groundsheet fabric PU-coated nylon
Internal dimensions 230x112x92cm
Packed size 45x16cm
The Wild Country Zephyros 2 Lite is superb for those looking for a lightweight backpacking option at a superb price, but living space is very limited compared to other two-person tents.
