The Vaude Terratrio 2P is based on the ever-popular Vaude Taurus 1 2P, but it has a 60 per cent larger porch area due to the squared-off profile at the front of the porch, as well as a different fabric that is more tear-resistant due to its hexagonal ripstop construction. This results in a tent that is more spacious than the Taurus, but lower in price and the same weight. What’s not to like? Pitching is extremely easy with the poles fitting around the outside of the flysheet, allowing the inner to be added later or pitched in situ, which is ideal for wet weather. For extra room at the foot of the tent there are two vertical poles that are pre-fitted and just need the guy lines adjusting to tension them. As with many Vaude tents you get a great door design with four zip pulls that can be opened from either side or the top to allow good control of airflow through the tent. The squared-off porch area is ideal for two people’s rucksacks, and it allows great headroom too, so two campers can comfortably go about their business. The fly also hugs the ground around the edges to keep even horizontal rain at bay.

Just the right combination of size, weight and living space to make the Vaude Terratrio 2P ideal for general backpacking and camping with an excellent price to match. Indeed, it won Trail’s ‘Best Value’ award.
