The Vango Apex 200 is intended as a lightweight, compact option for the adventurer looking for an open and easily accessible tent, so it tips the scales at 1722g, which is instantly impressive. The inner and fly pitch in one with a single pole sliding through a sleeve around the outside of the fly, and then a second transverse pole is added to create more headroom at the porch and to provide a canopy over the huge porch vent. To save weight the pegs are very short, which is okay in good dense earth, but pitching on rougher or softer terrain may require you to buy some longer pegs. There is just one entrance, but at least the whole of the front opens up and benefits from that big canopy extension, so it’s not too bad for two to come and go. But when two are inside and it’s zipped up there’s not a lot of space, partly because the inner is narrow and also because the rear wall slopes steeply, thus reducing headroom. In fact I’d prefer to use the Vango Apex 200 as a one-person tent myself, although you can technically get two people inside if you’re very good friends!0
Flysheet fabric silicone-coated 40D ripstop nylon
Inner tent nylon
Internal dimensions 205x130x130cm
Packed size 52x13cm
The Vango Apex 200 is a lightweight tent with excellent front entry, but once inside the space is very limited, unless you and your mate are happy to snuggle up.
