The MSR E-Wing takes the standard rectangular tarp shape and adds additional material at each end to allow more protection at the porches when pitched as an A-frame. This is very welcome and it makes the E-Wing ideal for use in general tarping situations where you aren’t going to require the most elaborate of pitching options. The tarp has guy line points around the sides, plus one additional central attachment point, so it can be suspended from above or more headroom can be created when pitched as a lean-to shelter. While the E-Wing isn’t the lightest option we looked at, it’s still a good weight at just 516g for the tarp, pegs and guy lines, and it packs down small enough to fit in a rucksack side pocket. However, the price is much higher than other tarps that have more flexible pitching options.
