The Trail is a great, compact rucksack for everyday walks. It mixes simplicity and technicality: it has the most basic hip-belt and back system; yet it closes with a lid and buckle, which is unusually refined for a sub-30L pack, and it has two capacious side pockets which help you distribute the weight very evenly. The side pockets easily take a 50ml water bottle, an OS map, a hat and gloves, while the main section swallows two jackets, overtrousers and a lunch-box with ease. There are two nicely-sized pockets in the lid, too, and it all sits very securely on a walk. But you might not rely on it for a more ambitious walk, or one with a lot of ascent: the lack of stabilising, load-bearing hip-fins on the belt becomes noticeable pretty quickly, as does the simplicity of the padded back system, which can leave you a bit moist after a long, hot day.
Extra pockets: 4 (lid x2, side x2)
Back system: AirForce (padded airflow)

A highly capacious, stable pack for everyday walks, just lacks refinement.
