The Beartooth Air is a sound offering from Lowe Alpine. The back system is designed to keep your back ventilated and cool while you are on the move. All the features you will require for days on the hill are there – walking pole attachments, rain cover and bladder housing. The pockets on the sides of the pack are compressible and a good size, and there are also both internal and external pockets in the lid. The toggles used on all the pockets are individual and easy to use. The pack can be divided into two compartments and access can be gained from the base of the pack by a zip entrance. The manufacturer’s stated capacity was pretty spot on. But the snow lock extension is quite narrow and doesn’t have an extra drawcord to pull it in. There is also only one elastic toggle on the front, meaning you have to choose between carrying an ice axe or walking poles. Some may also find the padding in the back system sits in the wrong place and feels a little lumpy.
