This 25-litre daysack from Gelert is very comfortable to wear, despite its very short back length, with the bulk of the load definitely being directed through the padded cushion that sits on the small of your back. The concave back system works well, and the webbing waist belt looks flimsy but doesn’t feel uncomfortable. With an easy access zipped main compartment and a good selection of pockets, the Swerve is a pretty versatile pack, although its usable space appears a little smaller than most. It feels quite stable on, mainly due to the smaller size, and the fact the concave back isn’t too extreme. It also comes with a useful rain cover, but there’s no pocket for a hydration system.
Verdict: This is a lot of rucksack for the money, so if you’re on a really tight budget, don’t think twice. If things aren’t quite so tight, it’s probably worth spending the extra £10 for a few more features.
