Deuter Air Contact 65+10

The Air Contact range has been well-received in Trail reviews, and this backpacking rucksack once more came up to our high expectations. The back system is easily adjusted and comfy. You get a fairly conventional layout, but I liked how the compression straps get quick-release buckles to make access to the bellows side pockets much easier. There is a snow lock extension on the top entry to the main compartment, and the lid can be raised to allow the body to be overstuffed. Better still, there is a bellows panel that links the lid to the main sack to prevent water from creeping in under the lid in heavy rain. This sack provides everything most backpackers will need and the extra little details make it far more practical on the hill. But it is heavier than some rucksacks in this size range, and it is also higher in price than its competitors. You can’t remove the lid, which some will feel is a disadvantage, but otherwise this is virtually as good as the best that we’ve tested here.
