Berghaus Freeflow 20

A streamlined little pack, with no little straps and fiddly bits to get in the way. On the back it does feel quite small and the length of this particular model is short. There are no compression straps, but the curved design and relatively compact capacity means that they’re not really missed. The back system is an updated version of Berghaus’ Freeflow and is one of the breeziest tested, with only a couple of mesh strips in contact with the back. And unlike other similar systems, the lower hip padding section isn’t nearly so invasive on the lumbar region. In turn that does mean support around the waist and hips isn’t the greatest. The hip straps aren’t padded at all, and act more to secure the pack to your back rather than bear any load.
