Vango Firefly 20 (2012)

Vango has a reputation for providing superb-value products that maintain a good level of performance, and the Firefly fits this mould well. The pack is designed for outdoor enthusiasts who have speed in mind, whether they are on foot or on a bike. So it has a neat 20 litre capacity built around an AirForce back system that uses padding to raise the pack away from the wearer to maintain an air chimney through the middle so your back does not feel too clammy. There is just enough stiffness in the back system to maintain comfort while allowing it to flex when biking or running. The waistband is a basic webbing strap rather than a more elaborate padded design and the result is less comfort; also the pack does not hug the back quite as well as higher-priced options. The body of the Vango Firefly 20 has one main compartment with a ziparound opening and for more stability there are a pair of compression straps that work very well. For extra gear stowage on the move, the pair of mesh side pockets and the front stash pocket are well-designed. It is a little bit heavier than others but it’s a superb price.
