What a product! This is the insulated jacket for every occasion. You’ll be cosy belaying on the crag and look suave down the pub. The Redpoint Optimus is the hooded version of The North Face’s hugely popular Redpoint jacket. The hood is elasticated around the face, but with drawstring adjustment at the back. The base also has drawcord adjustment, while the sleeves use the same elastication as the hood. All the pockets have zips and the internal pocket doubles as a stuffsack. This jacket is a fine example of function and style working perfectly together. The women’s option is feminine and well-cut while having all the features expected from a performance jacket. But the Redpoint is not easy to pack into its stuff pocket as the pocket mouth is quite narrow – and this is really rather annoying. Although the cut of this jacket is truly flattering for a technical jacket, a little more length – especially to cover one’s bottom – would make it perfect.
