As this insulated jacket weighs just 416g it is the sort of garment you won’t mind carrying throughout the year. It stuffs into the map-sized zipped chest pocket and there are a couple of zipped hip pockets that are also map-sized. The pockets feature the modern skinny zipped entrance styling so they don’t jump out at you when you look at the jacket. The front zip gets a baffle on the inside to keep out draughts, and the cuffs and hem are elasticated. There is very little else to this jacket and at that weight I guess you wouldn’t expect much more. Use this is a back-up mid layer and it is ideal, as – don’t forget – the jacket will spend much of its life in your rucksack! So weight is the major issue. But this is a very minimalist design with no drawcord at the collar, no cuff adjustment other than elastication and no hood or reinforcement for high-wear areas like elbows. The sleeves are quite baggy and it didn’t feel quite as robust or as warm as some other jackets of this type.
