The The North Face Jinxy Mid is a stylish, waterproof children’s shoe with a mid-cut ankle cuff, so it offers a little more protection than a shoe. The upper is well-supported at the heel, and underfoot there is good stiffness to take the knocks out of uneven, rocky ground. But the mid-cut ankle cuff is still lower than a boot, so this is not ideal for muddy ground or deeper puddles. Also the toe box is not as stiff as some others. Underfoot, the lug pattern is not as aggressive as others, so all in all this is not the best choice for the roughest terrain.

Verdict: The The North Face Jinxy Mid is a good, mid-cut children’s shoe for valley use, but others are better on hill and mountain walks.
