Scarpa New Manta

Trail’s favourite 4-season boot for many years, last year this gained an articulated ankle cuff. In use this means the ankle cuff is so much more comfortable than before when walking. The ankle cuff is slightly lower than many winter boots to allow a more natural walking action. The rest of the boot is classic Manta with a one-piece leather upper providing stiffness, support and enough water resistance for a winter’s day. There’s barely a stitch in sight too, which further enhances water resistance as well as durability. Underfoot you get the classic Vibram M4 Tech sole that has exceptionally deep lugs, which is ideal for clawing a grip on slush, snow and ice. But the Scarpa gets a huge rubber rand and some boots have an even deeper lug pattern in the sole. This boot doesn’t have a waterproof lining, but then also it doesn’t have a lot of stitching to leak, so it is up for debate if a waterproof lining is needed.
