Fully lined with Meindl’s Memory Foam System (MFS), Meindl’s Vakuum GTX boots are soft and comfy to pull on. They are a little too roomy at the toe though, making them feel clumsy, and it is hard to get a stable fit without lacing them very tightly. These are rugged boots that excel high up the mountain. They handle a crampon well, yet don’t feel too rigid without one, but sadly are a bit clumsy when moving on tricky ground.

Verdict: The Vakuum GTX is a solid, high-mountain boot that will perform in summer or winter, but is best-suited to those with a broader forefoot.
