If there was a prize for instant comfort alone, the Sella would win it hands down. This shoe really does feel like a slipper straight out of the box and it’s also one of the lightest shoes tested here. But it achieves this by also being the softest shoe on test, so limits itself to easier going on well-surfaced trails. The uppers are made from a quality nubuck and look and feel lovely, and it has plenty of padding on the cuff and tongue. The fit is reasonably neutral and the lacing works well in securing a stable fit, but on uneven ground the twist in the sole does leave the foot a little battered. The Mer-Tex waterproof liner did a good job and traction was good on all but the most rugged terrain.
