This is quite a lightweight 4-season boot for the performance with the weight saving coming from the synthetic and leather. The upper also gets a waterproof lining and a high rubber rand to provide waterproof and rockproof durability. The upper is very stiff, making it ideal for use with crampons while the supportive ankle cuff is ideal for steeper slopes. It is a very comfortable boot, thanks in part to the double tongue construction and spacious inner. Underfoot you get a very stiff sole unit with a good deep lug pattern for biting into snow and ice. There’s good cushioning too. Use this for mountaineering and it should be ideal. But others offer a more natural walking action. So this is better suited to Alpine use or easier graded snow and ice climbing rather than pure winter hill-walking and Munro-bagging where a smoother walking action is often an advantage for typical UK conditions. The high price tag is the final blow.
