This 3-4 season boot is designed for the British market and based around a simple one-piece upper with a waterproof lining and good sole unit. You get a rubber rand for added protection around the toe too. The lacing extends further down the toes than some for a more precise fit. The ankle support is ideal for tough terrain, yet it allows enough forward flex to make walking on the flat comfortable. Underfoot you get a great sole unit with perfect flex for year-round use and a good aggressive lug pattern from Vibram rubber. The cushioning comprises of three densities of rubber for perfect control on every step. The boot’s tapered profile makes it ideal for the scrambler or mountaineer as well as general walking. But you may not want a waterproof lining (in which case Asolo provides the Powermatic 500V without Gore-Tex at £140). I’d like to see a deeper heel breast and a little more depth and aggression from the outsole lug pattern to allow for some wear and tear.
