Asolo Intrepid XCR

A very well designed, lightweight shoe that offers a surprising amount of support. The secret is the clever blend of a supportive suede upper, with sizeable polyester panels that reduce weight without really affecting the structure. The fit is quite specific, meaning it’s quite shaped and will either fit the foot perfectly, or it won’t; although excellent lacing will assist. The midsole is about spot-on: plenty of flex front to back, making it easy to push off the toe, yet tough and stable laterally, so a delight on rougher ground. And the Vibram outsole is a good compromise, with deep lugs under the main foot for grip on softer stuff, yet some more slick patches at the toe and heel to provide traction on rock.
