Vango Dry Holdall 90 (2014)

If you’re expecting serious weather, and know your bag’s going to be exposed to it, the Vango Dry Holdall 90 could be just what you need. Thanks to welded joins, a roll-top design and a coated waterproof nylon build, this lies somewhere between a duffel and a dry bag, and is actually aimed at sailing and rafting activities as much as it is at hillwalking. Essentially it’s a big, formless 90 litre single compartment with a tall top that rolls down and affixes to clips at each end. Once you’ve done this, you can release any excess air within thanks to a handy valve on the side – and, voilà, your kit is waterproofed and impressively compressed. Other features are bare and basic: two slightly rough handles, and that’s about it, but it does come with attachable shoulder straps. Not bad for £75.

Capacity 90 litres
