These Gelert Ascent trekking poles have only two sections, which makes for a longer (more bulky) pack-down size. But this also means they’re less prone to slipping than some. With a comfortable handle and reasonable weight, this is a bargain pole for all but the very serious hillwalker. Two-section design makes them easier to adjust and tighten. Adequate performance and the straps and twist-lock devices are just as good as some of the more expensive poles on the market.
Verdict: A great buy for the price and ideal for the casual walker or first time user, particularly if pack-down size is not a major issue.
