Black Diamond Spot 2010

A popular headtorch for many years, the Black Diamond Spot offers exceptionally lightweight performance. The battery case is pure genius as it opens just by tilting the head further than normally required. This makes fitting batteries in the dark easier than on any other headtorch I know of. Closure of the battery case is equally easy. One button provides six power levels plus flash and these offer a good level of light for camping and walking. The head tilt is held in place with a moulded ratchet. Operation is by just one button that provides strobe, full power, economy and middle settings. The output is very impressive, being a maximum of 47 lumens with a maximum burn time of 200 hours. This torch provides a good overall beam of light but is able to punch out a 70m beam. The combination of all these features, a weight of just 88g and a price of £43 makes this an excellent headtorch for most activities outdoors. But the Black Diamond Spot’s light beam is not as bright or as long as some others here, but it is still adequate for walking at night. Again like some others there is no power remaining indicator and no red light for maintaining night vision more easily. Of course you can get lower-priced options too.
