In 2013 Sir Ranulph Feinnes will set out to make the first ever winter crossing of Antarctica - The Coldest Journey.
Trail writer Dan Aspel went down to Hyde Park in London where Sir Ranulph was training with Garmin to ensure he has all the skills and equipment necessary to navigate his way across the frozen wilderness of the southern continent.
Dan asked him about some of the most fascinating aspects of the trip, including the planning, the transport, the clothing, the equipment and, of course, the temperatures.
To learn more about all these challenges and find out exactly what Sir Ranulph regards as a 'show stopper', check out the video below.
To read the full interview, including details of Sir Ranulph's motivation, the plan for the journey and the kit the team will be using, pick up the January issue of Trail magazine - on sale from Thursday 29th November 2012.
