These are just two of the 13 100km events that Oxfam runs around the world.

Around 15,000 people take on a 100km challenge annually and since 1981 100km walkers have raised 45m for Oxfam.

Working together as a team is all part of the 100km experienceWhy are they so successful?
Probably because they are unique. They also rely heavily on teamwork, which makes them great team-builders (or breakers!).

They combine walking, fantastic countryside and teamwork into a testing mix where people come together and raise money for Oxfam.

Why do people take it on?
Most people will take on a challenge like this for the experience and to test themselves. Its also a great achievement to have completed an event of this distance. Who else do you know who has walked two and a half marathons non-stop?

Who takes part?
Last year in the UK 2,600 people took on one of these challenges ensuring there is a great atmosphere during the event. They come in all shapes, sizes and ages (from 18 to 73!)

Completing Trailtrekker or Trailwalker is an incredible achievementHeres what some 2009 Trailwalkers had to say
The greatest team challenge I have ever done after 24 hours we finally understood what teamwork really meant.
Alex Fisher, The IBT Die-Hards

I have never been pushed so near to my limits in my life but I am really glad that I did it, both for the personal achievement and the knowledge that our team has raised so much money for such good causes.
Duncan Bisatt, Tollers
