The weekend of Friday 7th to Sunday 9th of September saw the Country Walking sponsored 11th annual Boots and Beer Walking Festival return to Hawes in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire.
With self-guided routes in and around Wensleydale, the numerous walks on offer took in some of the valley's greatest locations, including the Aysgarth Falls, Bolton Castle, Hawdraw Force and more great pubs than you can shake a stick at.
There were walks of varying lengths and for all abilities, including guided walks with the festival's co-creator and author of 'The Inn Way' series of guidebooks, Mark Reid.
But what about the beer? The festival is organised and run by the Black Sheep brewery that, along with Mark Reid, set up the festival in 2002 to help bring walkers back to the Dales following the devastating effects of the foot and mouth outbreak, which saw much of the countryside closed off and access prohibited.
Needless to say, walking and ale are perfect bedfellows and the Boots and Beer festival continues to go from strength to strength. We'll see you there next year!
