ViewRanger has teamed up with Harvey Maps to provide specialist walking maps for the UK’s most popular outdoor regions available on mobile devices.
ViewRanger’s GPS navigation is hugely admired and respected within the outdoor community. Perthshire-based Harvey Map’s lightweight waterproof printed maps have achieved cult status among hillwalkers over the past 40 years. As such, a partership between the two not only makes perfect sense, but is also hugely welcome.
Harvey Maps was founded in 1977 by Robin and Sue Harvey, with a vision to create maps that include all of the features hillwalkers need, and none that they don’t. Special attention is given to contours, which are spaced at 15-metre intervals, and bright colours help distinguish rocky ground, woodland, farmland and marshland. Specific features such as climbing crags, Munros and Wainwrights are also clearly identified.
Harvey's 1:25,000 Superwalker and 1:40,000 British Mountain Map series – totalling more than 50 maps – are both available to download now in the ViewRanger app. Pick the area you want to explore, download the relevant map to your phone, then start planning your next adventure. The maps can be used without phone signal, allowing walkers to see their precise location on detailed mapping in even the most remote locations.
