An iconic Pennine peak that suffers somewhat from its good looks and the fact the Pennine Way goes straight up that sphinx-like profile. Look past the erosion (now much less evident than it was thanks to sensitive footpath construction) and you'll find it's a very appealing peak that's worth a closer look than the drive-by both the Pennine Way and the Three Peak Challenge give it. Get up close to the neglected western / north-western crags by walking in from Foxup to the north-east and rid yourself of the impression that Pen y Ghent's a mere tick in a three-peak box forever.
